ABOUT THIS POSITION

The City of Phoenix Aviation Department Safety Analyst I is responsible for conducting general safety and equipment training, including creating and maintaining the safety training curriculum.  This position also conducts safety inspections, performs accident investigations, and coordinates loss prevention activities.  Safety Analysts I work under the general supervision of a Safety Analyst II, Management Services Administrator, Human Resources Supervisor, or other supervisor.

The City of Phoenix Aviation Department Safety Analyst II investigates incidents and recommends safety improvements to management based on findings; responds to safety concerns from Aviation business partners (TSA, construction contractors, HOST etc.), the Safety Hotline and employees; leads the Incident Review Committee and the Safety Committee; develops and implements health and safety plans and policies; and conducts ergonomic evaluations.  This position may supervise a Safety Analyst I depending on departments’ needs.

  • An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered.
  • All positions in the Aviation Department require individuals to pass a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background check prior to hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS  

A well-qualified candidate will possess the job requirements listed above, plus:

ABOUT THIS POSITION

Each year, air travelers, as well as private aircraft and cargo, are safely routed through Phoenix Deer Valley Airport and Phoenix Goodyear Airport. Both airports are operated by the City of Phoenix Aviation Department. The Airport Operations Technician maintains airport facility conditions to ensure safe, secure, and efficient airport operations at the Phoenix Goodyear Airport and Phoenix Deer Valley Airport. Duties include: enforcing city codes, airport rules and regulations; performing security checks; responding to alerts and emergencies; complying with and enforcing EPA rules and regulations; issuing notices of violations; overseeing contracted service providers; providing maintenance or repair of buildings and airfield facilities; and performing janitorial duties. This position will require a State of Arizona Office of Pest Management Herbicide Applicator License upon date of hire or within the first year of employment. Currently there are two vacancies.This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies over the life of the eligible (hiring) list.

Job Title City of Phoenix - Building Equipment Operator II
Job Description

ABOUT THIS POSITION

These positions with the City of Phoenix Aviation Department may supervise or act as a lead in the installation, operation, and maintenance of heating, refrigeration, and other mechanical equipment in one or more City of Phoenix buildings. Positions operate, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC, and may order parts as needed. May perform minor plumbing repairs and minor electrical troubleshooting and repair. 
 
Aviation positions may be responsible for performing highly skilled electronic systems work in the design, installation, maintenance, repair of electronic systems. Positions will be dedicated to maintaining the building automation system, central chiller plant controls, air distribution systems and associated control equipment. Phoenix Convention Center positions will be expected to trouble shoot and repair low temp refrigerated equipment, kitchen cooking and food prep equipment, boilers, rolling gates, overhead doors and sewage ejector pumps, variable frequency drives, and mechanical controls. Currently, there are vacancies in both Phoenix Convention Center and Aviation Departments.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • 2 years of journey level experience in the operation, repair, and maintenance of large, modern refrigeration and heating systems, supplemented by training in modern refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

  • Experience with building automation systems, communications network and infrastructure equipment 
  • Ability to configure computer equipment, utilizing management software to assist with system problem analysis, as well as cost efficiencies for repair, maintenance, and operations
  • Ability to review operational efficiencies to take advantage of cost saving opportunities
  • Knowledge of the refrigeration cycle and Central Plant operations
  • Certified Energy Manager certification from the Association of Energy Engineers
  • Associate's degree in electronics or related field.
